Hike Option

Wilsons Prom Ultimate Escape

4 nights/5 days

Package includes: Accommodation; 2 nights guesthouse, 1 nights camping in style and 1 night lighthouse, all meals, transport, equipment, 3 days hiking, guides, 1hr massage and fully therapeutic spa.

Drive to the Prom (approximately 1 hour scenic trip) to begin our hike. We hike from Mt Oberon to Refuge Cove via Sealers Cove. A beautiful combination of eucalypts, ferns and beech trees with a boardwalk through lush rainforest leads us to Sealers Cove. We stop for lunch then continue to Refuge Cove. Spectacular coastal views, beautiful beaches and diverse scenery are some of the highlights leading to Refuge Cove where granite boulders spill down mountains to meet this sandy beach and secluded cove.

Graded moderate: A reasonable level of fitness is required.

Distance: 57km. 3 day hike with 6-8 hours hiking per day

Carry: Light pack approx 12kg.

Beautiful beaches, secluded coves, temperate rainforests, spectacular views, abundant flora, fauna and bird life. Our 3 day guided hike includes comfortable accommodation at 8 Acres Guesthouse & the legendary Prom Lighthouse, camping in style, manageable pack sizes, quality meals, spa & massage.

Day 1/Night 1: Pick up or self drive from Melbourne CBD then drive to 8 Acres Guesthouse for trip preparation, dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2/Night 2: Hike16.6km 5hrs

Drive to the Prom (approximately 1 hour scenic trip) and begin hike. We hike from Mt Oberon to Refuge Cove via Sealers Cove. A beautiful combination of eucalypts, ferns and beech trees, the famous boardwalk through lush rainforest leading to Sealers Cove and granite boulders that spill down mountains to meet sandy beaches and secluded coves are some of the highlights.

We camp overnight in style at Refuge Cove. Our sheltered camp site is a 30 second stroll from the emerald green waters and golden sand of Refuge Cove where we dine beneath the stars and fall to sleep on a comfortable mattress listening to the sounds of the sea.

Day 3/Night 3: Hike 18km 6 hours.

We hike through shaded gullies of tree ferns, eucalypts and amazing granite boulders, coastal tracks with outstanding panoramic views and white sand beaches with sapphire blue seas. We break for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea arriving at the legendary Prom lighthouse. This touch of luxury surrounded by complete wilderness is worth the walk. The original cottages have been beautifully restored providing remote comfort of beds, hot showers and arm chairs to take advantage of the views over the Bass strait and the Proms mountain ranges.

Day 4/Night 4: Hike 22.5km 8 hours.

Hike to Tidal River via Oberon Bay. This inland track undulates through eucalypts, ferns, and stunning Austral Grass Tree (Kangroo tail plants) then follows a sandy tea tree lined path to Oberon Bay. The final section of the journey provides more stunning coastal tracks, beautiful beaches, sublime views, amazing granite boulders and a gentle beach finale to Tidal River. We return to 8 Acres guesthouse for a rejuvenating 1 hour massage, spa and privately cooked meal reflecting on a fabulous adventure.
